On May 19, 2011 the ISYPROM project partners (www.isyprom.de) present their findings on model-based process and system design to accelerate innovation. The final presentation provides a platform for live demonstration and discussion on current issues in product development. The event is organised by the ISYPROM consortium and is held at Automobil Forum Berlin.

The objective of the ISYPROM research project was to improve the management of product development processes by aligning processes, systems, and people. Pumacy’s main focus was placed on the early stages of product development and the integration of knowledge and innovation management in the development process in accordance to the product lifecycle. The knowledge management platform KMmaster was designed to integrate knowledge and innovation in the PLM system using a service oriented architecture (SOA) to streamline product and process modeling. The relevant information can be retrieved at all stages of the design and manufacturing process to accelerate complex processes in product development and management.

Dirk Langenberg, project engineer process management at Pumacy, says: “It is obvious that today’s product development processes require integration in the product lifecycle. Processes, systems and information aligned with a PLM system can accelerate activities and help avoid mistakes.”

Nora Dörr, project engineer innovation management, adds: “The developed processes and methods help to turn ideas into products quickly and efficiently. By considering ideas and requirements, the innovation management and product development are streamlined and focused to the needs of customers.”

The event is a forum for discussion and live demonstration and a great opportunity to exchange ideas and practical experience. Pumacy provides a demonstration of the knowledge management software KMmaster.

The ISYPROM project took two and a half years and was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the framework concept “Research for Tomorrow’s Production” under reference number 02PC105x. The project was coordinated by the Project Management Agency Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (PTKA). Members of the consortium are Airbus Deutschland, ESG and Knorr-Bremse – as potential user of the project results – and research institutes such as Fraunhofer IPK and the University of Kassel which contribute to the project with their scientific activities.

KMmaster

KMmaster (www.kmmaster.de) is a web-based knowledge management application to manage process-based information and documents.

Individually designed solution concepts promote communication and collaboration within teams working in distributed environments. The systematic management of knowledge helps businesses to improve performance and increase profitability.
