Research group conducts research on model-based process and system design to accelerate innovation (ISYPROM)

Pumacy Technologies AG is project partner in the joint research project “ISYPROM” financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to investigate ways of accelerating innovation by a model-based process and system design.

As a part of an eleven-member consortium from science, research and industry Pumacy Technologies AG has recently started working on a joint research project to investigate ways of accelerating innovation.

The ISYPROM project focuses on a virtualization of the product development by a more formalized, model-driven and processable semantics of product data as well as the management of product development processes by a more stable compound of business processes. Pumacy’s main task is to integrate knowledge management into a product life cycle management (PLM) platform and to optimize innovation processes.

 “Product life cycle management is considered by companies as state-of-the-art for product development,“ said Dr. Lars Langenberg, CTO of Pumacy Technologies AG.  “However, PLM strongly depends on what the software industry delivers. We are glad that we found a platform that allows us to show that there are still far more conceptual opportunities to improve PLM such as direct integration of knowledge and innovation management processes in a product life cycle. “

“With the help of an integrated modeling of products and processes and the application of service oriented architecture, knowledge and innovation can serve as direct input to the different phases of the design process and accelerate complex development and administration procedures. Additionally to the work for the research project, we intend to implement these concepts in our knowledge management platform KMmaster®," he adds.

Several organizations that are particularly interested in the outcomes of the research project are part of the consortium including Airbus Deutschland, ESG and Knorr-Bremse as well as Fraunhofer IPK and University of Kassel. The research project ISYPROM will take two and a half years and is co-financed of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
