Experts of the aviation sector discussed approaches to build and keep a high performance workforce

The Human Resource Management in European Aviation Conference (HUMAV), a singular event for the discussion of key workforce issues in the aviation sector, was held in Berlin on June 19 – 20. Speakers included managers and academics in the field of human resource management and development in the aviation sector. Pumacy Technologies AG presented the knowledge transfer solution „K.exchange“, an innovative approach to reduce the negative impact of demographic change in the aerospace industry.

Dr. Toralf Kahlert (CEO) highlights the lack of skilled workforce within this high-growth market as one of three key challenges. “Besides the surge in oil prices and the weak dollar we noticed that the demographic change becomes more and more a risk factor for the industry. Companies of high-technology sectors such as the aerospace industry will need to face up to the retention of knowledge of experts and managers over the next few years.” With more than seven years of experiences in the field of knowledge management Pumacy Technologies AG presented a solution for the effective transfer of organisational knowledge that has been successfully introduced to customers of the aerospace sector.

HUMAV was organized by the Wildau Insitute of Technology (WIT), which is associated with the Wildau University of Applied Sciences, and Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT). HUMAV aims to provide a forum for the discussion and exchange of ideas and information by experts and managers of the aerospace industry with regard to the lack of skilled workforce within this sector. Several discussions and a series of workshop session focussed on topics such as models for flexible work hour rules, innovative approaches to training or adapting working conditions to an ageing workforce.
