Project Management

Application of project knowledge
Assess your current situation
- A project comes to its end; a new project is about to start and all team members take on new tasks. Although most of the employees have extended project experience and are specialist within their work domains, it is possible that they make mistakes that have already been made, but not shared with others in the organisation.
- Project members change the project and have to be introduced to the new work environment which takes a considerable time to resolve.
- There is no information available about other employees who have been involved in similar projects.
- As key players work in different projects at different sites, the exchange of knowledge and information (e.g. coffee corner) does not take place.
Possible solutions
- Organisation of workshops during or after a project in order to store project experiences
- In a very short time, a newcomer becomes an expert in the course of a moderated knowledge transfer
- Yellow pages deliver information on experts and their topics
- Existing communities or networks with an organisation-wide knowledge transfer are encouraged in their activities.
